People often turn to astrology at threshold moments, when life feels uncertain or pressured. It can also offer orientation when larger life questions are stirring, or when a past experience has left you at a confusing impasse. As a regular practice, annual solar return readings help you understand the themes of the year ahead and plan with more awareness. And sometimes, astrology begins with simple curiosity.

At its best, astrology restores perspective. It helps place past and present experience within a larger order, so that future choices can be made with greater clarity and freedom.

The consultation categories below provide a useful focus, but they are not rigid containers. In practice, techniques and perspectives naturally inform one another.

A birth chart reading may touch on current timing, a solar return is best understood alongside transits and the wider life chapter context, and a forecasting consultation will often return to the natal promise beneath the present moment. These offerings are therefore distinct, but not entirely separate. Each one approaches the chart from a different doorway.

The category of consultation you choose shapes the emphasis, while the session itself remains responsive to the themes that need attention.

A note on birth times

Natal, forecasting, and solar return consultations require a reliable birth time. If your birth time is unknown, it is worth trying to find it before booking. Many hospitals can search birth records for a nominal fee, and family members, baby books, birth notices, or family documents may also help.

If you only have an approximate birth time, Solar-Centred Astrology may still be possible; please send your details and I will check before proceeding. Horary astrology is also available for sincere, specific questions about practical matters. It does not require birth details.

Birth Chart Consultation

A birth chart consultation offers a grounded reading of the natal chart as a whole. This is usually the best starting point for new clients, and may include temperament, vocation, relationships, family patterns, life direction, strengths, pressures, and the larger themes shown in the chart.

Rather than treating the chart as a list of separate traits, this consultation looks for the underlying pattern: how the parts of the chart speak to one another, where the main tensions and gifts lie, and how the chart can be understood as a coherent whole.

Some forecasting may also be included, especially where past timing or current circumstances help illuminate the natal pattern or the life chapter you are moving through.

Solar-Centred Astrology Consultation

A Solar-Centred Astrology consultation reads your birth chart from the perspective of the Sun as the central organising principle. This approach can be especially helpful when questions of life direction, vocation, purpose, or deeper orientation are at the forefront.

Rather than beginning with the Ascendant, the chart is turned so that the Sun is placed in the first house. The rest of the chart is then read in relation to that solar centre, showing how the planets, Moon, and Ascendant contribute to the expression of your solar purpose.

Solar-Centred Astrology may be suitable when a birth time is approximate rather than exact. Although the Ascendant itself may not be reliable, much of the chart usually remains the same over a few hours. In some cases, comparing the Ascendant in different possible solar houses can help narrow the field. Please send your details before booking so I can check whether this is appropriate.

Forecasting Consultation

A forecasting consultation looks at the timing of the life chapter you are moving through now. I use traditional forecasting techniques including solar returns, profections, transits, and time-lord periods to understand what is being activated, what is developing, and where your attention may be most needed.

Forecasting is especially useful for returning clients, because the natal chart is already familiar. New clients are also welcome to book this consultation, but some natal work will naturally be included so the timing can be understood in context. We may look at what has happened during previous periods, how certain themes tend to unfold in your life, and what the present timing is asking of you now.

Solar Return Consultation

A solar return chart is calculated for your birthday each year, drawn for the moment the Sun returns to its natal position. It describes the themes, priorities, pressures, and opportunities of the year ahead.

A solar return consultation is useful as an annual practice of reflection and planning, or when you want to understand the particular character of the year you are entering. In this consultation, the year itself becomes the focus: its major themes, priorities, pressures, opportunities, and areas of emphasis. It is read alongside the natal chart and current timing, so the year is understood within the wider context of your life.

Solar returns are central to my forecasting work throughout the year, but this consultation is especially suited to those who want a dedicated reading of the year ahead.

A side note for the technically curious

My practice is rooted in traditional astrology because I have found its methods clear, rich, coherent, and reliable. I work with the seven visible planets, traditional rulerships, Ptolemaic aspects, whole sign houses for topics and significations, and quadrant houses for planetary strength and horary charts. For forecasting, I draw especially on profections, solar returns, monthly returns, and transits.

These techniques provide the framework for the reading, but the heart of the consultation is practical judgement: understanding what is being shown, what is being asked of you, and how to move with greater clarity.
